Integration
Slack integration for HR tools: go links, kudos, on-call, and rosters in Slack
The Slack integration puts OrgOrg where your team already talks. Go links unfurl in any channel, kudos post as the OrgOrg bot, /oncall pages the rotation, survey and feedback requests arrive as messages, and a roster keeps a channel's members in sync.
What connects
- Go links: type go/<name> in any channel or DM and it unfurls to the destination with its owner.
- Thanks: a kudos posts to Slack as the OrgOrg bot or on behalf of the sender, and lands on the recipient's profile.
- On-Call: /oncall opens an incident and pages the rotation; incident updates post to the channel you attach.
- Feedback and surveys: feedback requests, kudos, and survey invitations post through Slack, on a release schedule when you want one.
- Rosters: a rule such as 'everyone with the title Engineer' keeps a channel's members current.
- Notices: the inbox, email, and Slack get one call, and each person's preferences decide which arrive.

How to set it up
- Open the connectors page. In OrgOrg, go to Settings, then Connectors, and click Connect on the Slack tile.
- Pick the workspace. Slack asks which workspace OrgOrg may join and what the bot may do. Confirm, and Slack sends you back to OrgOrg with the connection working.
- Attach the channels. Pick a channel for on-call incident updates on each rotation, and map a roster to a channel for the groups you want kept in sync.
- Tell the team about go/. From then on, go/<name> in any message unfurls, and the /oncall command pages the rotation.

Frequently asked questions
- What does the OrgOrg Slack integration do?
- It brings the apps to Slack. Go links unfurl in any channel, kudos post as the bot, and /oncall pages the rotation. Feedback requests and survey invitations arrive as messages, and a roster keeps a channel's members in sync. One connection, made from Settings in OrgOrg.
- Does OrgOrg read my Slack messages?
- The bot watches messages for go/<name> so it can unfurl the link, and it answers the /oncall command. It stores no message text. Everything it posts comes from an action in OrgOrg: a kudos, a page, a feedback request, a survey.
- Can OrgOrg keep a Slack channel's members in sync?
- Yes. A roster is a group of people by rule, such as everyone with the title Engineer or everyone with direct reports. Map the roster to a channel, and OrgOrg adds and removes members as the directory changes.
- Is the Slack integration free?
- Yes. The integration comes with the suite, which is free for teams of up to 5 people, and every app that uses it is included on every plan.
